The New River Valley will have a new way to get from point A to point B this spring. Montgomery County, the towns of Christiansburg and Blacksburg, and Virginia Tech are teaming up for a bikeshare system that will start with 12 stations and 88 bikes distributed across those stations. The bikeshare program will make it possible for individuals to rent a bike for a specific period of time and travel between two locations without having to return the bike from where it was originally rented. Memberships will be available, but riders will also have the option to rent by the hour.

Details are still being confirmed, but Gotcha will be providing the service which will include a few electric-power-assist bikes alongside the traditional bikes. Funding from DRPT is supporting the program startup along with matching funds from the local participating partners.
