Did you miss the VDOT Salem District Locally Administered Program Day in Blacksburg?  For the last three years VDOT has offered a full-day program to learn about programs, procedures, and phases of locally administered projects.  This year the event was held for the first time in the New River Valley and a record 120+ participants attended.  Here is a list of the top 3 takeaways from the meeting:

  1. A New Locally Administered Projects (LAP) Mapping tool is available. The LAP Map provides localities with a navigation flowchart that identifies project milestones and timelines automatically.  A user will be able to select a project type from a series of drop-down menus rather than sort through a 700-page manual.
  2. Dashboard 4.0 is available. The new dashboard  provides an enhanced user experience and quickly allows localities to view information on projects they are managing.  The old dashboard only tracked the advertisement date,  while the new tool tracks 10 separate activities.
  3. A New LAP Website is exclusively available for the Salem District. The website was created to share information and point users towards helpful tools.  In addition, all LAP Day presentations are available for reference.  Check out the new website here: https://sites.google.com/view/salemdistrictlap/home
