To follow progress and participate through the public comment process be sure to check in at our website: https://nrvrc.org/hazardmitigation/ or call 540.639.9313. The plan addresses natural hazards affecting the region, including flooding, severe weather, and geological hazards such as rockfall. The region includes four counties – Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski – and the City of Radford. A regional plan was first developed in 2005 under the guidance of the Federal Emergency management Agency and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and as required by federal legislation. The plan is updated on a five-year frequency with the latest available data. For further information, please contact Christy Straight (cstraight@nrvrc.org), 540-639-9313 x209.
