Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF), the Regional Commission and the Plant SWVA Natives Campaign has been working to increase the availability and access to native plants across the New River Valley and beyond. VOF highlighted the project last month in one of its Grant Spotlights. If you are interested in getting your hands on some bareroot native plants in the final days of winter, the annual bareroot native plant distribution event is now live. This year, Plant SWVA Natives partnered with the New River Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society, and is distributing bareroot tree and shrub seedling packages, with seven pickup locations across the New River Valley.
