Since the fall of 2022, the Regional Commission has been working with stakeholders from around the region to create a pilot program design for a regional housing trust fund. A call for proposals was released in June seeking affordable housing project applications, and awards will be made in late August. The Fund is being seeded with a $2M grant from Virginia Housing, and long-term sustainability is being sought through grantmaking and local public and private investment.
