Astleigh, the creative mind behind this venture, embarked on her candle-making journey over seven years ago.
Astleigh shares, "Candle making started as a way to express my creativity. It's about crafting a product that encapsulates family life, traditions, and a beautiful piece of home decor. My candles are more than just decorative items; they're a backdrop to memory-making."
This dream of a storefront became a reality in May 2023, thanks to the support of the New River Valley Revolving Loan Fund. "The loan was a game-changer," Astleigh explains. "It helped me create a shopping experience that's unique to the New River Valley, expanding my customer community and forging meaningful relationships."
The Chandlerie isn't just a store; it's a community hub offering candle making classes and a selection of home goods and gifts. "Every aspect of the store reflects my vision and values, and it's amazing to see how we've become a place known for warmth and welcome in the community," Astleigh adds.
Astleigh advises aspiring entrepreneurs, "If you have a vision, pursue it. Investigate, understand the pros and cons, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone."
