The Regional Commission welcomed Alex McMahon, of the New River Conservancy (NRC), at New River Watershed Roundtable quarterly meeting in August. Mr. McMahon presented to the Watershed Roundtable about the opportunities for citizen water quality monitoring in the region. As the Water Quality Coordinator for the NRC, Mr. McMahon heads the New River Water Watchers program. As part of this program, he explained how to participate in water quality monitoring efforts. The data collected by volunteers would then be used for scientific research and analysis.
