Strengthening the Region Through Collaboration
The New River Valley Regional Commission is an organization comprised of 13 local governments and three higher education institutions for the purpose of encouraging collaboration to address regionally significant issues and opportunities. Also known as PDC4, our organization encompasses the counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski, and the City of Radford.
The Regional Commission convenes community leaders to build relationships and capacity across the region; provides technical assistance to members; serves as a liaison between local, state and federal governments; and implements services when requested by members.

Neighbors in Need, a program powered by Millstone Kitchen at the Old Prices Fork Elementary School, was created in response to the increased need for food access in response to the pandemic. Local caterers prepared hot individual meals and supplied them to multiple area partners for distribution to individuals in need.
On October 26-28th, the Town of Pembroke and Giles County hosted a series of virtual workshop as part of the Recreation Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) program. The workshop sessions are the focal point of the planning process, bringing together federal and local partners to discuss local outdoor recreation and economic development needs and potential solutions, and to work collaboratively to prioritize goals
The Business Continuity Team (BCT) has been working with The NRV Public Health Task Force to ensure that businesses can remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since August the team has been answering commonly asked questions regarding COVID-19, reviewing and developing business continuity plans, fielding calls from the New River Health District, performing N-95 fit tests, on-site testing coordination, and contact tracing.
