NRVRC staff and local Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO’s) are currently planning the upcoming Virginia’s Outdoor Lovers Expo. The 2017 Virginia’s Outdoor Lovers Expo is a free event and will be held at Bisset Park in Radford April 22nd from 10:00am-4:00pm. There will be demonstrations such as leave no trace, outdoor survival tips, chainsaw carving along with outdoor activities including a 300-foot-long zip line and a demo pool, outdoor gear raffle items, live music, kids zone with rock wall and bounce house, and a gear swap provided by Backcountry Ski & Sport. This year’s expo already has over 75 outdoor related vendors participating, including Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Mountain 2 Island Paddleboard, Tangent Outfitters, Virginia Department of Forestry and many more. The event is brought to you by generous support from sponsors including, Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Blue Ridge Outdoors and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The third annual outdoor expo is a 19 county, 54 town, and 4 city event that highlights outdoor recreation opportunities in Southwest Virginia. The event also serves as a platform for outdoor related businesses, clubs, organizations, and communities to connect and build relationships to strengthen Southwest Virginia’s creative economy.
