As the peak river use season is winding down, the Regional Commission hosted a meeting of Emergency Managers from across the region to discuss water safety issues and future collaborations. The group identified key strategies such as a river safety awareness campaign that will help educate the public on safe outings on the New River. In early 2020 the Commission will continue the conversation of safe river use with the emergency managers by inviting local outfitters and first responders to the table.
