As the New River Valley continues to grow, it is important that we maintain the fun, healthy quality of life that defines what our region is all about. Part of maintaining this quality of life is through how we play:  through our sports, our exercise, and our recreating with family and friends.

Whether through youth athletics; programs, tours, and events for Active Adults; or the County’s outdoor recreation programs, when it comes to recreation, Montgomery County actively supports taking advantage of what the New River Valley has to offer. All of these programs, coupled with great recreational facilities, parks, and trails (including the Frog Pond swimming pool and the Huckleberry Trail), provide ways for Montgomery County residents to incorporate recreation as an integral part of their lifestyle.

The New River Valley Regional Commission (NRVRC) is happy to support Montgomery County as it looks to its future with a 20 year master plan. Since January 2015, Commission staff has helped the County develop a mission for its Parks and Recreation department, assess its current facilities and programs, and study how other counties approach parks and recreation planning.

But now we need your help.

The best way to know how to move Montgomery County’s parks and recreation forward in the next 20 years is to ask citizens directly. The NRVRC and Montgomery County have developed an online survey that asks the citizens of the County three fundamental questions regarding the County’s parks and recreation:  what do you like, what do you think can improve, and what would you like to see happen next?

We are collecting your responses through the online survey here. Your input is very important, and will be a driving factor in how the County moves forward.
