Just over 3 years ago (March 12, 2020), the governor of Virginia declared a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A month prior to that, local and regional leaders in the New River Valley began meeting to assess risks and to develop a call to action for governments, health care providers and citizens in the face of this global health crisis. As a region, the collaboration has long been admired and it was critically impactful to our response to the pandemic.
The New River Valley After Action Report was designed to capture critical elements of the regional response and to note lessons learned, how leaders managed processes and funding, and the progress that became institutionalized during the response to COVID-19. The report cannot tell every story or capture every element of work across the region, it does, however, show the breadth and depth of collaboration to address the pandemic. You can find the report in the NRVRC website library along with the supporting documentation used to develop the report. If you would like to learn more about the report, please contact Holly Lesko at hlesko@nrvrc.org.
