Spending by tourists in Virginia reached $23 billion in 2015, an increase of 2.3% over 2014. All jurisdictions in the New River Valley (NRV) saw an increase in domestic traveler spending in 2015 vs. 2014. The NRV region saw an increase of 1.9%. Changes in spending by locality/region:
- Floyd County: 2.0%
- Giles County: 0.5%
- Montgomery County: 2.3%
- Pulaski County: 2.0%
- City of Radford: 0.1%
- NRV Region: 1.9%

Virginia Tourism Marketing Leverage Program
The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) Marketing Leverage Program is designed to stimulate new tourism marketing programs through the creation of tourism partnerships and to extend the “Virginia is for Lovers” campaign. The objective of this program is to leverage limited marketing dollars, resulting in increased visitor spending, revenue, and jobs.
The next round of Marketing Leverage Program funding has an application deadline of 5:00 p.m. on November 30, 2016. For applicants who are interested in receiving a review of their draft application, the draft must be submitted to VTC by November 9 at 5:00 p.m. More information on this program can be found at https://www.vatc.org/pam/leverageprog/.
