The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected Giles County to be one of ten participants in the United States to receive planning assistance through the EPA's Recreation Economy for Rural Communities (RERC) program. Through RERC assistance, a planning team will help the partner communities create an action plan to grow the local outdoor recreation economy in ways that promote sustainable resource management and environmentally friendly community development. More information on the Recreation Economies for Rural Communities program and this year's participants is available at: https://www.epa.gov/smartgrowth/recreation-economy-rural-communities.
