Are you interested in a role that will help communities thrive in Virginia's New River Valley?  The New River Valley Regional Commission is seeking a creative, team-oriented, and adaptable Graphic Designer/Community Engagement Specialist.  The Commission is a planning agency located in beautiful Southwest Virginia, that serves 13 local governments and three institutions of higher education.  This position will support the agency’s goal of integrating graphic design and community engagement tools into all programmatic elements with template guides and creative direction. The position has the opportunity to grow the in-house graphic design footprint by establishing partner value in this work and securing resources and programs that enhance this division. 

The successful candidate will support multiple projects and programs, with current fiscal year targets toward the Ride Solutions program that highlights alternative transportation opportunities as well as the NRV Recovery Ecosystem communication and outreach programming that supports a substance use disorder anti-stigma campaign with design, social post cadence, and website resource promotion.  Candidates will excel in this role with skill sets that elevate technical and planning documents through graphic design, develop print and digital creative education and outreach materials, and enhance community engagement activities and tools.  The position will specialize in creative communication of technical information in a team environment both internally and externally with local partners. 

This position will lead and support various projects, splitting time between graphic/web design, community engagement, and planning initiatives.  Minimum requirements include a BA/BS degree or relevant professional experience, and continued professional growth is strongly supported.  Experience with Adobe and Microsoft products is a must. 

The position is preferred full-time and in-person; however, the Commission may choose to offer multiple part-time positions, depending on qualifications and level of interest.  Starting full-time salary range $52,500 to $70,000, DOQ.  The full-time position offers four days in-office and one day remote work.  Excellent benefits package includes paid employer health options and participation in the Virginia Retirement System. Starting part-time salary range is $30-$40 per hour and more flexible/remote working options may be available.  The Regional Commission actively seeks to employ a diverse team to serve the region and is committed to engaging all communities in the New River Valley.
